Not sure how much fragrance to use in the product you want to make? First, you need to understand the maximum percentages that specific product base will typically accept.
CP, HP, CPOP Soap: 6%
MP Soap: 3%
Lotions and Scrubs: 1-2%
Bath Bombs, Salts & Soaks: 5-10%
Candles: 6-12% (depends upon wax used)
The actual percentage you end up using should be based upon the IFRA maximum, the maximum your product base will accept and what % of fragrance it takes to make your product smell awesome! A good starting place is using the LOWEST of these three percentages.
EXAMPLE:
Desired scent strength: 5%
Maximum CP base load: 6%
IFRA Maximum: 12%
This means you should start with 5% of this particular fragrance in your CP soap as that is the lowest of all three numbers. Remember, you are not limited to this percentage. You can use up to 12%. However, this is a great place to start.

Winter Citrus Wreath is one of my customer top favorites! It just totally smells like "CHRISTMAS"!! Soaps like a dream in CP with NO acceleration, no ricing, and not discoloring! Soaps like a dream in CP! Used 5% of my entire batch and it holds up great after the cure. I haven’t experienced much discoloration, maybe to a light ivory color, and I’ve been using this for a few years now in my Christmas line. Love this!
